Except for a few predominate
women, fly fishing’s history has primarily featured men. The last few years has
seen a change and women’s interest in fly fishing has grown, quickly. I’ve
always imaged fly fishing being somewhat of a sisterhood, as we wade our own way on
the water. Rods, Reels, and Heels was born from that idea, and we are here to
encourage women of all ages and levels of experience to not only head out on
the water but support each other in all that we accomplish.
Rods, Reels and, Heels does not believe we are “unicorns”, nor do we think we are better than our male counterparts. We love to fish, just as much as the next guy. We will spend hours watching fishing videos, reading about knots, bugs, waterways, and using any free time to toss out a line or two.
RRH has been hosting beginner’s classes, fly tying nights, day trips and weekend trips as well. The enthusiasm we are seeing for fly fishing is exciting to say the least. Several other great events are coming up as well; time on private water, guest speaker presentations, more tying events, and we hope to have some fun, laid back socials! We are passionate about fly fishing and the opportunities it provides us to be outside, meet new friends, travel to new places, and simply enjoy the resources we have available to us.
We look forward to growing with everyone and hearing all about your fishing stories and the adventures they lead you on.
Peace. Love. Fish.
